ABVP Wins 3 DUSU Posts, Independent Takes VP

New Delhi, 20th Sept: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won three of the four key posts in the 2026 Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, while independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen secured the Vice President post.
ABVP’s Yash Dabas was elected President with 24,576 votes, defeating NSUI’s Vijay Shankar Meena, who secured 22,523 votes. Riya Chhawdi won the Secretary post with 21,650 votes, while Lakshya Raj Singh was elected Joint Secretary with 16,615 votes.
Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen won the Vice President election with 30,615 votes, finishing ahead of ABVP’s Ishu Maurya, who polled 16,910 votes. Shokeen is a former NSUI member.
The election recorded a voter turnout of 40.46 per cent, with voting held across 52 polling centres. More than 1.51 lakh students were eligible to vote.
With the results, ABVP secured the President, Secretary and Joint Secretary positions, while the Vice President post went to an independent candidate. The new DUSU central panel will serve for the 2026-27 academic session.
