Anil Baluni named Communication Coordinator as Nitin Nabin announces key changes in BJP’s central communication setup

New Delhi, 23rd Sept: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday announced key appointments in its central communication and media departments, with Ashish Usha Agrawal appointed Convenor of the party’s Media Department and Anil Baluni named Coordinator of the Communication Department.
The appointments were made by BJP National President Nitin Nabin and will take effect immediately, according to a press release issued by the party’s Central Office.
Agrawal’s elevation comes shortly after he was inducted into the BJP’s national media team as a Media Co-Convenor in August 2026. He was among the three co-convenors appointed to assist Anil Baluni, alongside Pradeep Bhandari and Siddharth Yadav.
Agrawal has been associated with the BJP’s media department since 2017 and has served as the party’s Madhya Pradesh state media in-charge for two consecutive terms, besides working as a state spokesperson and panellist. He was reported to be the first BJP functionary from Madhya Pradesh to be appointed to the national media team in this capacity.
Before his elevation to the national team, Agrawal was active in the BJP’s Madhya Pradesh media operations, representing the party on political and public issues. Recent reports have identified him as the party’s Madhya Pradesh media in-charge, while his August appointment brought him into the BJP’s national media structure.
With Wednesday’s appointment, Agrawal will now head the BJP’s Media Department at the national level. The move follows his recent transition from the state-level media organisation to the party’s central communication apparatus.
Baluni, who had been appointed the BJP’s Media Convenor in the new national team announced in August, has now been assigned the broader role of Coordinator of the Communication Department. The party’s latest release separately names Agrawal as Convenor of the Media Department.
The BJP’s August organisational restructuring had placed Baluni at the head of the Media Department, with Agrawal, Bhandari and Siddharth Yadav as Media Co-Convenors. The latest changes formally expand the communication structure by assigning Baluni the coordination role and Agrawal responsibility for the Media Department.
The appointments come as the BJP prepares its organisational and communication machinery for a politically active period, including assembly elections scheduled in several states in 2027.
The BJP release was issued by Tarun Chugh, Rajya Sabha MP and National Headquarters In-charge. Copies were marked to National President Nitin Nabin, National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santhosh and Central Office Secretary Mahendra Pandey.
