Varanasi, 23rd Sept: The Bharat Taxi service was formally launched in Varanasi and four other Uttar Pradesh cities—Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Kanpur and Prayagraj—on Wednesday, expanding the cooperative mobility platform across the state.
Union Minister of State for Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol addressed the launch programme in Lucknow, where Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and senior state officials were present.
Under the “Driver is the Owner” model, Bharat Taxi seeks to make drivers, or Saarthis, stakeholders in the cooperative platform. More than 10 lakh Saarthis have joined the service within six months of its launch, with around 20,000 rides being completed daily, according to the ministry.
Around ₹100 crore has been credited to Saarthis’ accounts during the past six months, while about 40 lakh passengers have joined the platform.
With the Uttar Pradesh rollout, around 40,000 Saarthis have registered across Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Kanpur and Prayagraj.
Other initiatives launched
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also launched the Mukhyamantri Krishak Samriddhi Yojana portal, the Urvarak Setu mobile app and the UPCDC mobile app of the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Database Centre.
The Airport Authority, Lucknow Metro Rail and Lucknow Police exchanged Memoranda of Understanding with Bharat Taxi during the programme
