Dehradun, 29th Sept: Students of the Alaknanda Girls’ Hostel at Doon University staged a protest on the university campus after allegedly finding worms in food served at the hostel, demanding an inquiry into the incident and action against those responsible.
The students gathered in large numbers and raised slogans during the protest, including against the Vice Chancellor. They sought accountability from the university administration and demanded that the quality of food served at the hostel be thoroughly investigated.
Following information about the incident, university officials reached the spot and attempted to pacify the protesting students. However, the students continued their demonstration for some time, insisting that the alleged lapse be investigated and corrective action taken.
Students also raised concerns about the money they pay for accommodation and food. They said they had left their homes to pursue their studies and expected the university to ensure proper food quality and hygiene.
The hostel administration has initiated an inquiry into the matter. The students eventually ended their protest, and the situation is currently under control.
