New Delhi, 28th Sept: Indian Railways has approved ₹223 crore for the deployment of Kavach Version 4.0 across 614.75 Route Kilometres (RKM) of the Varanasi (BSB) Division of North Eastern Railway.
The project will extend Kavach 4.0 coverage across the identified balance sections of the Varanasi Division, further strengthening the safety infrastructure supporting train operations.
Indigenous Technology for Railway Safety
Kavach is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system designed to enhance operational safety and support safer train movement.
The system helps prevent Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD) and can automatically apply brakes when required. It also monitors train operations to support the safe movement of trains.
The approved project will strengthen train-protection infrastructure across the remaining identified sections of the Varanasi Division.
The initiative is part of Indian Railways’ continuing efforts to expand the deployment of indigenous Kavach technology across its network and contribute to safer and more reliable train operations.
