PM Modi Greets Nation on National Handloom Day

Prime Minister salutes weavers and artisans, reaffirms government support for handloom sector and Atmanirbhar Bharat

New Delhi, 7th Aug: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday greeted the nation on National Handloom Day, celebrating India’s rich handloom heritage and paying tribute to the generations of weavers and artisans who have preserved the country’s traditional craftsmanship.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister hailed the skill, creativity and dedication of India’s weavers and artisans, saying they have preserved and enriched the country’s traditions for generations.

“Today, on National Handloom Day, we celebrate India’s rich and vibrant handloom heritage. We also salute the skill, creativity and dedication of our weavers and artisans,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the handloom sector, describing it as an important pillar of rural empowerment, women-led development and the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Modi also encouraged citizens to promote Indian handloom products through social media. He urged people to share their favourite handloom products and “Get Ready With Me” (GRWM) videos using the hashtag #NationalHandloomDay, saying such participation would encourage people associated with the sector.

National Handloom Day highlights India’s traditional weaving heritage and recognises the contribution of weavers and artisans to the country’s cultural and economic landscape.
