Chandigarh, 24th Sept: The Punjab government has announced an 8 percentage-point increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees, raising the existing rate from 42% to 50%, with effect from September 1, 2026.
According to an order issued by the Punjab Government’s Department of Finance (Finance Personnel-1 Branch) on September 23, the enhanced DA will be payable along with the salary for September 2026.
The order states that the Governor of Punjab has approved the release of DA at 8%, thereby increasing the existing rate from 42% to 50% with effect from September 1, 2026.
The decision applies to employees of the Government of Punjab, as specified in the Finance Department’s communication. The order has been circulated to senior government officials, heads of departments, divisional commissioners, the Punjab and Haryana High Court at Chandigarh, deputy commissioners, district and sessions judges, and the Secretary, Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
