Railways Merge Two UP Express Trains
New 24-coach service to improve direct connectivity between Pratapgarh, Kanpur and Chitrakutdham Karwi

New Delhi, Aug 8: Indian Railways has approved the merger of the 14109/14110 Chitrakutdham Karwi–Kanpur Central Express and the 14123/14124 Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh–Kanpur Central Express into a single service. The merged train will operate as the 14123/14124 Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh–Chitrakutdham Karwi Express, strengthening direct rail connectivity across key destinations in Uttar Pradesh.
The new service will provide seamless travel between Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh, Kanpur Central and Chitrakutdham Karwi, while improving access to the Lucknow region without requiring passengers to change trains at Kanpur.
As part of the merger, the train’s composition will be expanded from 12 coaches to 24 coaches, doubling passenger capacity. The enhanced service is expected to ease overcrowding on the busy Kanpur–Pratapgarh section and improve travel convenience for pilgrims, tourists, students, employees and business travellers.
The train will continue to halt at major stations, including Pratapgarh, Amethi, Rae Bareli, Lucknow, Kanpur Central, Banda, Atarra and Chitrakutdham Karwi, creating a stronger rail corridor connecting Awadh and Bundelkhand.
According to the Ministry of Railways, the merged service will ensure more efficient utilisation of railway resources while providing better connectivity to important religious, educational, healthcare and commercial centres across the region.
