Jaipur, 6th Aug: India successfully concluded the 10th BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur on Thursday under its BRICS Chairship 2026, with member countries adopting a Joint Declaration to advance industrial cooperation across MSMEs, photovoltaics, startups and logistics.
Held under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” the meeting brought together Industry Ministers and senior representatives from BRICS countries as part of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR).
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, while addressing the meeting, called on BRICS countries to leverage their complementary strengths to develop resilient industries and translate shared aspirations into practical cooperation and innovation.
Goyal said PartNIR has emerged as a key mechanism for industrial cooperation among BRICS members. Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada also reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening industrial partnerships through innovation, cooperation and mutual trust.
Joint Declaration Adopted
A key outcome of the meeting was the adoption of the Joint Declaration of the 10th BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting, reflecting the members’ commitment to move from dialogue towards practical mechanisms for industrial cooperation.
Under India’s 2026 Chairship, BRICS members finalised the Framework for Cooperation in the SME Working Group, aimed at strengthening MSME ecosystems across member countries.
The meeting also adopted the Terms of Reference and Action Plan for the BRICS Working Group on the Photovoltaic Industry, establishing a structured mechanism for cooperation in the sector.
An Action Plan on innovation-led growth through startups was also finalised. India proposed establishing a BRICS Incubator Network and a BRICS Startup Innovation Fund to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship.
Discussions also highlighted the importance of resilient transport and logistics systems for industry, including GIS-based infrastructure planning and city logistics planning.
BRICS Trade Ministers to Meet on August 7
Following the Industry Ministers’ Meeting, India will host the 16th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur on August 7, chaired by Piyush Goyal.
The meeting will focus on strengthening the multilateral trading system, increasing MSME participation in international trade, developing resilient and diversified global value chains and facilitating cross-border digitally delivered services.
The government said the BRICS engagements under India’s Chairship are aimed at promoting deeper economic cooperation while supporting resilient supply chains, innovation-driven growth and India’s broader Viksit Bharat@2047 vision.
